The Psalms appointed for the day are recited or sung.
After the Psalms are concluded, the following Doxology is sung.
S C R I P T U R E R E A D I N G
As appointed in the Daily Office Lectionary.
You will need to scroll down to access the Readings, which are provided after a selection of Psalms.
You may change the translation in the upper left hand corner of the Bible Gateway page.
If your selected translation does not include the Deuterocanonical Books,
you may miss Old Testament readings at times. Changing to one of the NRSV versions should solve this problem.
Currently, we recommend using the Old Testament for the Matins Reading,
the Gospels for the Diurnium Reading,
and the New Testament for the Vespers reading.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from the evil one.

LITANY OF THANKSGIVING
SUNDAYS - SOLEMNITIES - FEASTS
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
We praise and thank you, O Lord.
LITANY OF DELIVERANCE
MONDAY
from every act of wickedness,
and from the crafts and assaults of our enemy:
from pride, vanity, and hypocrisy,
and from envy, hatred, and malice:
from every deceit of the world, the flesh, and the devil,
and from all lack of love.
from hardness of heart;
and from contempt of your word and commandments:
from violence, battle, and murder,
and from dying suddenly and unprepared:
and give grace wisdom and understanding to all in authority.
unite the people of this land in freedom and in peace.
that they may act justly, love mercy, and walk in the ways of truth.
especially those respond in times of need,
and those who work tirelessly for the betterment of our local community:
that all nations may live together in unity, peace, and concord,
and that freedom might be extended to all peoples.
the homeless and the hungry,
and all who are desolate and oppressed.
so that in due time the needs of all may be met.
to do the work you have given us with singleness of heart
in service to you, and for the common good.
on account of their faith, their labor, or their travels.
for young children, orphans, and the widowed,
and for all whose homes are broken and torn by fear, abuse, and strife.
and indeed, show your mercy upon the whole human race.
fill her with your love and truth,
and grant her the unity which is your will.
[especially...]
with true knowledge and understanding,
that by their life and teaching they may proclaim your word.
that your truth may be proclaimed among the nations,
and the whole human race may be drawn to your gracious love.
that they may rightly hear and receive your holy word
and bring forth the fruits of the Spirit.
all who have erred, who are deceived,
and all who, like the Prodigal, find themselves distant from you.
in all times of prosperity,
at the hour of our death,
and on the Day of Judgement:
honesty in our confession of sin,
and the forgiveness of all our transgressions, negligences, and ignorances.
that we may amend our lives according to your gracious prompting.
and to turn their hearts to you.
to comfort and help the weak-hearted,
to raise up those who are bowed down,
and, finally, to beat down Satan under our feet.
in fellowship with the Blessed Virgin Mary and all your saints,
we may attain to your everlasting Kingdom.

Father, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and to put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son came to visit us in great humility; that on the Last Day, when he shall come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to everlasting life. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
L E N T A N D P A S S I O N T I D E
Father, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent. Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our failings, may obtain of you, the source of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles, "Peace I give to you, my peace I leave with you." Look not upon our sins, but upon the faith of your Church, and give to her the peace and unity of the heavenly Jerusalem where, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
Almighty God, your loving hand has given us all that we possess. Grant us grace that we may honor you with our substance, and, remembering the account which we must one day give, may be faithful stewards of your bounty. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
M O N D A Y
God of mercy and compassion, this interlude of reflection and rest is your welcome gift. Bless the work of this day, make good its defects, and let us finish it in a way that pleases you. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Father, you guide the simple in judgment, and shine your light upon the godly. Grant that we, amid every doubt and uncertainty, may find the grace to ask what you would have us do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices, that in your light we may see light, and that in your path we may never stumble. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
T U E S D A Y
Almighty Savior, illumine the world with the radiance of your glory, that all peoples may come and worship you; for you are ever one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and to you is justly due all glory and honor, now and forever. Amen.
O God, the fountain of wisdom, your will is good and gracious, and your law is truth. We beseech you so to guide and bless those who take counsel for the good of our homeland, that they may enact laws and pursue policies which promote the dignity and welfare of the people of this nation. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
W E D N E S D A Y
Father of mercies, you have revealed to the world your boundless love and compassion. Forgive our unbelief, enlarge our hearts, and kindle our zeal. Grant that we may fervently desire the salvation of all and, with ready diligence, grant that we may faithfully labor in the extension of your kingdom, for the sake of the One who gave himself for the life of the world, your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
O heavenly Father, you have filled the world with beauty. Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works that, rejoicing in all you have made, we may learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
T H U R S D A Y
Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit into our hearts to direct and rule us according to your will, to comfort us in all our afflictions, to defend us from all error, and to lead us into all truth. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty and everlasting God, you are the source of every good and perfect gift. Send down upon our bishops, and other clergy, and upon the faithful committed to their care, the healthful Spirit of your grace; and, that they may truly please you, pour upon them the continual dew of your blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honor of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.
F R I D A Y
Blessed Savior, hear us as we pray, and grant that all the peoples of the earth may look to you and be saved, for your tender mercies' sake. Amen.
Look with pity, O heavenly Father, upon the people in this land who live with injustice, terror, disease, and death as their constant companions. Have mercy upon us. Help us to eliminate our cruelty to these our neighbors. Strengthen those who spend their lives establishing equal protection of the law and equal opportunities for all. And grant that every one of us may enjoy a fair portion of the riches of the good Earth. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
S A T U R D A Y
Lord God, ruler of all, guide and direct our hearts in the way of your commandments, that through your mighty power, both now and ever, we may be kept safe in body, mind, and spirit, through the grace of our Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
O God of peace, you have taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength. By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray, to your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Precious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of his saints.
During one of the Offices of the day, a brief hagiographical sketch related to the day's commemoration is shared, or a short excerpt of their writings (or a writing concerning them) is read.
The Commemoration concludes:
O only-begotten Son and deathless Word of God,
for our salvation you were incarnate of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
assuming our flesh without the loss of your divinity.
You were crucified, O Christ our God!
You trampled down death by death!
You are one of the Holy Trinity,
glorified with the Father and the Spirit:
Save us who cry out to you.
Omitted in Solitary Recitation.
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered in his name you will be in their midst. Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world the knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come everlasting life. Amen.
