Collects for Epiphanytide

THE FIRST SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY
When Epiphany falls on a Sunday,
the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord
is celebrated on the First Sunday after Epiphany

Loving Father, your beloved Son sanctified the life of every family through his presence in the home of Mary and Joseph. Bind our families together and deepen our faith, that like the Holy Family of Nazareth, we may grow in wisdom, obedience, and love. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

This Collect is used only on Sunday.
The Collect for Epiphany is used on weekdays through January 12.

JANUARY 14 TO THE FOLLOWING SUNDAY

Father of love, hear our prayer. Help us to discern your will, and to do with courage and faith. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SECOND WEEK AFTER EPIPHANY
If before Transfiguration

Father, in your compassionate love, you breathe life into being and you sustain all that exists. Mercifully hear the prayers of your people: fill us with peace in this life, and, in the life to come, grant us a share in your eternal kingdom. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THIRD WEEK AFTER EPIPHANY
If before Transfiguration

Almighty and most merciful Father, your beloved Son revealed through signs and wonders the presence of your gracious love. Strengthen us in our weakness, provide for all that we need, and sustain us through your mighty power. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

FOURTH WEEK AFTER EPIPHANY
If before Transfiguration

Merciful Father, you know that we live out our lives with many concerns, and that, because of the frailty of our fallen nature, we cannot always face them without anxiety or fear. Grant that your strength and protection may support us as we face every disturbance and carry us through every temptation with courage and hope. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

FIFTH WEEK AFTER EPIPHANY
If before Transfiguration

Father, watch over your family with unfailing care, and grant that we, who rely solely on your grace, may always know the strength of your protection as you walk life’s journey with us side-by-side. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THE TRANSFIGURATION OF OUR LORD
The Last Sunday after Epiphany

Father, in the glorious Transfiguration of your well-beloved Son, you confirmed the mysteries of the faith by the testimony of Moses and Elijah, and extended to us the hope of a new and radiant life. In your goodness, grant that our faith may be confirmed through signs and wonders both great and small, and that we would, at the last, become co-heirs of your glory through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

LAST WEEK AFTER EPIPHANY
For Use on the Weekdays following Transfiguration

Father, you have promised to remain forever with those whose words and deeds are just and true. In your grace eradicate every inclination to division, hatred, and strife, and fashion us into dwellings worthy of your presence. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
